Uniform

Katherine was all excited about getting dressed this morning.  She picked out this outfit weeks ago.
Yup.  That's a school uniform.  And no, they don't wear uniforms at her school.  Kate is in that awkward stage where she is too big for the cute, little girl style clothes (that she really wants to wear) and not at all interested in the cheap, clingy, awful clothes available marketed for her size (thank goodness!).  When school uniforms appeared in back-to-school displays, she begged for one.  Repeatedly.  So I bought her one.  She was the only happy kid in the uniform section!  I like the uniform, too. It's cute, well-made, inexpensive, and covers all of her.  And, I suspect, we are both secretly nursing storybook little-girl-with-braids-going-off-to-school fantasies.  I hope it lasts for about ten more years.

On a side note, two years ago today we left for China to get Rachel.  That was a flight I'd rather never live through again.  I'm so glad that we're not traveling today.
