Symphony on the Prairie

This evening the girls and I went to Symphony on the Prairie.  It is a unique event - the local youth orchestra and area symphony orchestra have a concert in the middle of a pasture on the prairie.

It was great fun!

Between concerts there was plenty of time to go hiking through the prairie.

There were wild flowers to admire.

And cactus to inspect (so new the spines were still soft!).

A pond to throw sticks in.

And plenty of sunshine and space to enjoy the beauty of the prairie.

And then it was time for more music.

We listened and watched the sun go down and the stars come out. 

It was a perfect spring evening on the prairie.
