My cousin Dale lives in North Dakota. His three boys live in New York, but spend their summers with him and he always tries to bring them to Kansas to see the relatives here. Dale's oldest boy begged to see all of his cousins and to spend time with other relatives. So Dale organized a family reunion in our town today. His brother and family drove down. His sister in California couldn't come, but she sent her kids. All of his aunts and uncles and some of his cousins and their kids came. We had a wonderful time. The adults sat and talked and caught up on each other's lives. The kids ran around and played and got to know one another. My Aunt Sharon had all 7 of her grandchildren together for the first time ever. My girls were glad to be around some kids. Katherine entertained the littlest ones and was a good babysitter. Rachel flirted with all of the older boys. And Dale's boys were surrounded by family. When they go back home they'll have memories of cousins and the fun we had and they'll know that we love them, even when they're far away.
