Tartmaster disaster
I finally had a chance to use this cute little gadget I bought at a second hand store over the July 4 weekend. I made tart dough a few weeks ago in anticipation, before the heat wave, and had it tucked away in the freezer waiting for the right moment. After thawing the dough, I carefully rolled it out into a nice thin sheet, sugared some fresh blueberries covered the dough with them, leaving little pathways around them, then rolled out the other half of the dough and laid it neatly on top of the berries. Ahhh... the moment I've been waiting for. I placed the Tartmaster over the layers, pressed down on the springy top and voilĂ ! The top layer of dough stuck in the top of the Tartmaster and created a gooey mess! Okay, I must have done something wrong. Flour the Tartmaster. Try again. The bottom layer of dough had a nice fluted edge. The top stuck inside and created a gooey mess!
Then I threw a little tantrum, scooped everything up and threw it in the trash, Tartmaster and all.
We did pick our first cherry tomatoes today. Aren't they just the cutest?
My sweet hubby bought me a new lens for my camera yesterday... a 50mm f1.4... that I've been wanting. I was losing daylight by the time I was able to use it today, but I'll be doing some testing with it this week and I'll show you some of it's wonderfulness then.
Don't you just hate it when you have a kitchen disaster? It makes me feel all icky and down.
I'm going to have a bowl of ice cream now.
With extra chocolate sauce.
