I love children's books, especially children's picture book. At times I think I became a elementary school teacher solely to be able to have an excuse to read and collect children's books even as an adult. Eric Carle tops the list of Authors, if for nothing else but his illustrations. "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" was the title we decided to use to start our book buddy collection. After reading this lovely tale multiple times the girls set out to make their very own Hungry Caterpillar. They absolutely loved making it and it was amazing how they were able to talk about the story and it's elements while making their caterpillar book buddy. They talked about what their caterpillar would eat and how it would eat some of the same things that The Very Hungry Caterpillar ate. Now when they read this book, they can read it with their little 'book buddy'.
STEP ONE: paint the egg cartons
STEP TWO: have fun and smile while doing it
STEP THREE: add the antennas, eye, and mouth
Wallah! The girls have made their very first book buddy!
Lola and Ellie have decided that "The Very Busy Spider" by Eric Carle will be their next book buddy.
