From the Mountain to the Sea

TRAIN RIDING
Grandma was in town so we headed out to fill our weekend with fun! Our first stop was at Smith Ranch, Pioneers Way - A Julian Train and Gold Mine Tour.  The tour was about an hour and a half and was full of adventure for the kiddos. It started with a ride on a real mine train that even daddy was able to ride on. The train stopped at a few places, one of which was an authentic gold mine. The kids (and us) got a chance to learn some history and do a little panning for gold themselves.
Grandma, Auntie Missi, Uncle Mark, Aiden, Liam, Tony, Me, Lola, and Ellie were on the trip.

These cuties are for sure ready for the ride to start!

Our little family...
All Aboard!

Love this shot...All the cousins taking it all in!

Stopped and getting ready to go into the gold mine!
 Hard Hat Time!

After the tour of the mine...the kids actually got to pan for gold!
Eureka!! Ellie found Gold!

APPLE PICKING
When in Rome right?..It's fall and we were in Julian so we couldn't head down the mountain until we picked some fresh, ripe Julian apples- even if it was 90 degrees outside.
A pic-nic under an apple tree was a nice way to break up the day!

Stacy, Missi's friend, and her daughter Lexi joined us for our Apple Picking adventure.

Such a fun filled day with the family!

CARLSBAD BEACH DAY
The next day my mom, the girls, Aiden, and I headed up to spend the day at Carlsbad Beach with my Aunt and Uncle who were also in town. It was a relaxing morning that consisted of wave jumping, sandcastle making, Frisbee throwing, dolphin watching, and lot of lounging and snacking.
Lola, Grantie, Ellie, Aiden, Uncle Lynno, and Grandma

Look hard and you can see the dolphins swimming by!

This was a great way to spend what will most likely be our last officially beach day of the season!
Thanks Grandma for a great visit and for getting us out this weekend for some fun!
